I blog under my birth name, Egypt Titchenal, and focus my writing on the complexities of living life as an adult adoptee and as a biological mother raising my biological child. Even when it’s not apparent, these themes are there, under the surface, like the Loch Ness Monster or the city of Atlantis.
To pay the bills, and feed my soul, I teach at a local Pacific Northwest community college. My students are “at-risk youth,” and totally rock my world. When I’m not working, I am spending time with my Sagittarius son, tramping about the neighborhood with our crazy dog, drinking too many cups of coffee, and avoiding housework. I’m supported emotionally by a loving husband who crunches numbers and bores me with conversation about tax codes.
I try to live my life by the guiding principle, “Be kinder than necessary, everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.”-unknown
